What is Lifestyle Medicine?
Lifestyle Medicine is a medical specialty that utilizes therapeutic lifestyle interventions as the primary approach to treating and preventing chronic conditions (such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity). Lifestyle medicine certified clinicians are trained to apply evidence-based, whole-person, prescriptive lifestyle change to treat and, when used intensively, often reverse such conditions. Applying the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—a whole-food, plant-predominant eating pattern, physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connections—also provides effective prevention for these conditions.
Dr. Kimberly Nicoll is Board-certified in Lifestyle Medicine, and is passionate about helping patients achieve their health-related goals. Whether your goals are to lose weight, decrease your blood pressure and get off your blood pressure medicine, reverse your Type 2 Diabetes, improve your sleep, or decrease your alcohol intake, Dr. Nicoll is with you every step of the way. Initial consults are a full hour long, giving ample time for her to take a detailed history and get to know you before making recommendations.
